Avon Probus Club

Why Avon Probus?

Retirement can come too early for many people who want to remain active. Avon Probus Club is open to PROfessional and BUSiness people who are fully, or partially retired or nearing retirement, who wish to maintain a social network with others who have similar interests.

When and where do you meet?

Avon Probus meets in Stratford upon Avon twice a month at Stratford Sports Club, located in Swan's Nest Lane, alongside the River Avon in the heart of Shakespeare's home.

Does Avon Probus offer other activities?

Yes! Besides the 'Speaker Programme', there are summer and winter lunches to which spouses and guests are welcome.   Avon Probus Club is managed by a committee elected at the AGM each year in February.

For more information, please contact the Club Secretary, William Barnes   e-mail: webmaster.avonprobus@gmail.com

What should I expect on a typical Thursday social?

Members begin arriving from 10.30am for tea and coffee. The meetings start at 11.00am with a short overview of club business from our President. This is followed by a talk from the Speaker of the Day (see Calendar page for details). The subject matter of these talks range over many wide and varied subjects, which last about 45-60 minutes.  A talk is followed by an opportunity to ask questions from the floor (after which drinks can be purchased from the bar).

Visitors are welcome, but should contact the Secretary in advance.
